The Dalyan Delta is a unique ecosystem whose geographical diversity and lush vegetation sustain a vast array of flora and fauna, including the giant caretta caretta turtle. The amiable, little town of Dalyan stands beside a river on the opposite bank of which are a number of rock-cut temple tombs, which are illuminated at night. These are part of the necropolis of ancient Kaunos, whose ruins we visit by boat. They include a theater, a Byzantine church, and Hellenistic fortifications. This is one of the greatest archaeological sites in Türkiye. Only a fraction of the ancient city has been unearthed and every year more and more treasures are discovered. We will take another boat trip to visit placid Lake Köyceğiz, where there are mud-baths and thermal springs. İztuzu Beach, one of the finest in Türkiye, lies nearby and is a nesting ground of the caretta caretta turtle. The landscape around Dalyan is of exceptional beauty.
